Spaces for play

ASA takes a ‘landscape-led’ approach to play spaces, where equipment and setting are designed together, to enhance each other.  These provide more play opportunities than the traditional playground, and also hold the interest of children for longer, too: Inwood Park in LB Hounslow is a good example, with photos here by Phil Doyle of Inspire 2.

We are happy to take on smaller play projects, including school sites, and believe that we can demonstrate the added value that a full design service can bring to the process.  We enjoy working with artists to create bespoke playable structures, designed for their particular site.

“We don't stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing.”

George Bernard Shaw (Playwright, 1856-1960)

“The play area fits harmoniously into its heritage setting and is being used by a wide cross section of the community, meeting all its objectives. ASA’s understanding of the sensitive nature of the site and professional ability were instrumental in seeing this project from its first conception to completion and successful usage.”
