Five years ago I produced a new child, Aileen Shackell Associates…….the baby has grown up a bit now and though some days (months?) it seems rather sickly, on the whole I think the child probably will turn into an adult…
Anyway: this month we’re celebrating our fifth anniversary with a brand new website which takes a fresh look at the practice, aspires to be nicely interactive, and offers snapshots of some key projects which we’re proud to have been involved in, from the policy-changing (and ground-breaking) Design for Play through to the delight of our recently completed refurbishment of McKenna Green, which will we hope improve the living environment for the 120+ households who overlook it and help set new standards for open spaces across the Old Ford Housing Association estate.
And the future? Most of all, we’re hoping to build on our health and wellbeing guidance. There are rather a lot of hospitals, prisons, schools, nursing homes and more out there, which need help in using their outdoor spaces more creatively - rather than just cutting the grass cheaply - and we’d love to be involved.
In a recession like this, it’s easy to become disheartened with the slog of securing work but preparing the website has really helped us focus on why we do what we do, and above all where our strengths lie. Have a look and see what you think. And let us know.
