Highlands Farm LVIA, West Dorset

ASLD worked closely with Taunton architects Reed Holland Associates on this proposal for a new farmhouse at the foot of Pilsdon Pen, one of Dorset's most iconic landmarks and perhaps one of the most well-known Iron-Age hillforts in the county. With the site located in the Dorset AONB, plans to construct the new farmhouse had to be developed with great care and respect for this important and sensitive landscape.

We were appointed early enough to play a key role in the design process, and our Landscape and Visual Impact Appraisal (an informal version of the more commonly referred-to 'Assessment') helped refine the design proposals, particularly with regard to the siting of the new building, and the associated enhancement and mitigation works.

"We found the level of professional design service more than excellent and liaison with the team was always a pleasure. Creative, proactive landscape architects who listen to the wider team and client to generate a clear vision. It is reassuring to know that when provided with only an outline brief they took the initiative and filled in the blanks themselves. Absolutely delighted with the level of service and wouldn't hesitate to recommend further."
