ASLD worked closely with Taunton architects Reed Holland Associates on this proposal for a new farmhouse at the foot of Pilsdon Pen, one of Dorset's most iconic landmarks and perhaps one of the most well-known Iron-Age hillforts in the county. With the site located in the Dorset AONB, plans to construct the new farmhouse had to be developed with great care and respect for this important and sensitive landscape.
We were appointed early enough to play a key role in the design process, and our Landscape and Visual Impact Appraisal (an informal version of the more commonly referred-to 'Assessment') helped refine the design proposals, particularly with regard to the siting of the new building, and the associated enhancement and mitigation works.
