Godlingston Manor Wind Turbine LVIA

The practice was commissioned by land agents Symonds and Sampson to prepare an informal Landscape and Visual Impact Appraisal for a proposed single wind turbine to be located at Godlingston Manor Farm. The setting was highly sensitive; the turbine was to be located within the Dorset AONB and on National Trust land, within sight of the Jurassic Coast (a World Heritage Site) and in close proximity to the Grade 1 Listed 14th century Manor House. Following the preparation of the Appraisal, with the full support of the National Trust and following lengthy negotiation with the local AONB team, (which included fine details, such as options for paint finishes) the preferred location was finally approved and the turbine erected in early 2014. The turbine has a projected pay-back period of just under 5 years and it is hoped that it will reduce heating costs on the Manor House significantly.
