Spaces of historic importance: landscape conservation and restoration

Working with historic landscapes – parks and gardens, churchyards and cemeteries – includes a range of skills, most importantly, being able to identify  what remains from the past, and assess its significance, to pinpoint where it might be appropriate for changes to take place.

Working with a well established network of colleagues from other discplines we are able to  develop detailed conservation and restoration proposals, and then oversee their implementation on site. Having tackled a Stage 1 Heritage Lottery Fund applicatrion at Durlston Castle in 2013 (in Purbeck) we're now currently working at the Grade 1 Listed Highcliffe Castle (in east Dorset). At Highcliife we're helping the team to target limited resources across an extensive estate with a key objective being to re-open to the public areas which have been inaccessible for many decades.

“ASA took on this difficult brief, to re-design a heritage space in our public park. Their expertise and knowledge of the potential opportunities and contractors have been vital in bringing the project to its current stage. We started with a blank sheet of paper and now have a fully-costed programme… The result has been a scheme which meets everybody’s approval…”
