About
us
Aileen
Shackell Associates (ASA) ) is a landscape design
practice formed in 2007. Our main work areas are public
open space and working with community groups, and we
are a leading provider of play design; Aileen Shackell
was the lead author for Design
for Play, published in 2009. Small complex projects
are a speciality and working in the historic environment
is a particular skill. Above all our aim is to make
people feel happy and relaxed about their environments.
The
practice is run on a Studio basis which means that we
can offer attention to detail, continuity of service
and the 'imprint' of one person on smaller projects;
or for larger projects, working with a network of colleagues
who are hand-picked for projects as appropriate. The
practice also has well-established links with colleagues
from other disciplines, from architects to ecologists
and landscape historians.
Aileen
Shackell the practice director qualified as a landscape
architect in 1994 and has over 18 years' experience
in both the private sector and with the environmental
regeneration organisation Groundwork. Her particular
interests are historic landscapes and play design. She
was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of the Arts
this year.
ASA
has an office space in a Victorian building in the centre
of Bridport, west Dorset and the practice works both
in London and the West Country.
