Outdoor
Spaces for Health and Wellbeing: a practical guide
ASA
has been appointed by the Campaign for Greener Healthcare
and the Forestry Commission to prepare this new design
guidance for NHS facilities of all types, to help inspire
them to use their outdoor areas for therapeutic purposes.
The guidance will be the first of its kind in the UK,
where open space around hospitals is often under-valued
and seldom used.
The
guidance will also help to support and inform the Campaign
for Greener Healthcare's National Health Service Forest
(NHSF) which aims to plant one tree for every NHS employee
across the NHS estate, and beyond. The guidance will
be published this summer by the Forestry Commission
and is likely to be translated into a number of other
languages. .
