Abbey
Gardens,
Bury St Edmunds
ASA
assisted St Edmundsbury Borough Council (SEBC) in preparing
a stage one application to Heritage Lottery Fund 'Parks
for People' programme, for the Abbey Gardens
- the most important public open space in Bury St Edmunds.
Objectives for the site included physical conservation,
repair and enhancement of the various component parts,
alongside extensive community - based archaeological
investigations.
ASA
carried out an initial site appraisal and survey and
prepared a strategy or 'Vision Plan' for the whole site.
The outline cost plan also prepared by ASA formed the
basis for the final HLF application, with a total project
value of around five million pounds. The outcome of
the HLF application will be known in June 2011.
